Atlanta Maternity Photographer: Mary & Rich’s Luxury Session
There is a specific kind of magic that fills the studio when a couple is preparing to welcome their very first child. It’s a mix of quiet anticipation, deep connection, and that unmistakable “first-time parent” glow. Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of hosting Mary and Rich at my Atlanta studio for a high-end maternity experience that was as elegant as it was emotional.
At Maternity and Newborn Studio of Atlanta by Casey McMinn Photography, my goal is to provide more than just a photoshoot; I want to offer an effortless, pampered experience where expectant mothers feel like the goddesses they are.
The Full Luxury Experience
Mary’s session began with the full “royal treatment.” One of the hallmarks of a session at my studio is that we take the stress of preparation off your plate entirely.
- Professional Hair & Makeup: Mary started her morning in the styling chair. Our professional glam team worked their magic, creating a timeless, radiant look that highlighted her natural beauty and ensured she felt confident in front of the lens.
- The Client Closet: Mary had full access to my curated wardrobe of designer maternity gowns and fine art fabrics. From rich, velvet textures to ethereal silks, every piece is chosen to drape perfectly over a growing bump.
A Symphony of Style and Texture
We explored several distinct looks during the session, moving between different moods and color palettes to capture every facet of Mary’s journey.
1. The Warmth of Earth Tones We began with a stunning warm-toned backdrop that complemented Mary’s complexion beautifully. She wore a luxurious, rust-colored velvet gown and a matching flowing fabric that we used to create dynamic movement. The images of Mary and Rich together in this set are so tender—you can truly feel their connection as they hold hands and look toward their future.
2. Modern Noir & Drama For a bolder look, we transitioned to a sophisticated slate gray backdrop. Mary donned a breathtaking black ruffled robe and a celestial-inspired floral crown. This “Queen” aesthetic is always a favorite—it’s powerful, chic, and celebrates the strength of motherhood. Rich joined her for several portraits here, his charcoal grey shirt perfectly coordinating with the moody, high-fashion vibe of the set.
3. Fine Art Silhouettes Some of the most striking images from the day were the backlit silhouettes. By using a bright white “high-key” setup and sheer white fabric, we were able to capture the beautiful curves of Mary’s pregnancy in a way that feels like a piece of art. These images are timeless and focus purely on the incredible transformation of the female body.
Why a Studio Session?
While I love the beauty of Georgia’s outdoors, there is something irreplaceable about the controlled, luxury environment of a studio. It allows us to play with dramatic lighting, ensures Mary stays comfortable and cool, and provides the privacy needed for more intimate “bump-forward” portraits.
