I’m so excited to share highlights from a recent cake smash session at my portrait studio, Casey McMinn Photography, that was just bursting with sweetness and smiles. We celebrated a very special little boy’s first birthday, and it was an absolute joy to capture these precious moments for his family.

As always, I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment for my clients, and this session was no exception. For this little man’s big milestone, we went with a beautiful, earthy theme, incorporating greens, tans, and natural tones. It was a refreshing departure from the typical bright and bold cake smash setups, and I think it perfectly complemented his adorable personality.
To bring the vision to life, I handcrafted a stunning balloon garland using a carefully curated palette of earthy tones. The soft greens, warm tans, and subtle neutrals created a serene and organic backdrop that felt both modern and timeless. We paired the garland with a neutral tan backdrop, allowing the focus to remain firmly on the birthday boy and his delightful expressions.
He loved it!
And oh, what expressions! This little guy was an absolute dream to photograph. From his wide, beaming smiles to his curious little nibbles of cake, every moment was pure magic. He dove right into his cake, exploring the textures and flavors with pure, unadulterated joy. It’s moments like these that make my job so incredibly rewarding.
It’s not just about the cake, though. We focus on capturing the essence of this milestone and the love that surrounds this little boy. The family was so wonderful, and it was clear how much they cherished every giggle and messy handful of cake. These sessions are about creating lasting memories, and I feel so privileged to be a part of that process.
