Today I’m going to talk about what to expect at your portrait sessions. Specifically, maternity and newborn portrait sessions done at my Marietta, GA portrait studio. As a result, you’ll be fully prepared for each experience!

Maternity sessions are such a wonderful experience for mom and dad. The maternity session is a great way to celebrate your little one on the way. Also, to remember this amazing time in your life when you’re creating a life. It truly is something so amazing that you’ve got to document it.
What to expect for your maternity session
Booking your Maternity Session
When you book with Casey McMinn Photography, get ready for an amazing experience. Maternity sessions are full service. You won’t have to worry about a thing.
When you book you’ll get a booking confirmation email. This will have further details about how to prep for your day, where we’re located, etc.
Consultation Call
We will then set up a consultation call to discuss all the fun details about your session. We will decide on colors for the session, dresses and more. This is also when we set up the date for your maternity session.
What is Included in your Maternity Session?
All maternity sessions include hair and makeup, plus all clothing. This includes gowns and dresses for mom as well as clothing for dad. We even have cute little outfits for your kids.
Session Day | Maternity + Newborn Photography Atlanta
When the day comes for your maternity session I will have everything set up in the studio. Your gowns will be out and ready for wearing. Clothing for the rest of the family will be set out as well.
When you arrive at the studio our hair and make up artist will get mom prepped. While that’s happening I will direct dad and kids to their selected outfits. I’ll show them where to change and have them get ready.
Once everybody is ready we will start shooting. If you already have kids I will get family maternity portraits first. This allows for best smiles from the kids before they’re pooped out on pictures. We will then move on to maternity pictures with mom and dad. Then, several of just mom alone. I will most likely have mom and dad change outfits at least one more time, maybe twice.
The backdrops we use will be changed out throughout the session with your outfits. This allows for a full variety of maternity portraits.
The Studio
There are snacks and refreshments for the entire family at the studio. There is also a changing table with diapers, wipes, creams and a bottle warmer for any really little ones.
Selecting Your Products
1 – 2 weeks after your maternity session you’ll return to my studio in Marietta for your viewing and ordering appointment. This is so fun! This is when you’ll get to see your portraits and pick when you’d like to purchase. I will help you to determine which size wall art is best for you and which album is best for your maternity session.
All products are hand delivered to your home a few weeks after ordering.
Newborn Sessions
These are such a wonderful experience for mom and dad. This is a time when you’re either entering into parenthood, or, adding to your beautiful family. The newborn session is a great way to professionally document this time.

When you book with Casey McMinn Photography, get ready for an amazing experience! Newborn sessions are full service. You won’t have to worry about anything. This is especially nice since you’ll be 100% busy with taking care of a newborn.
When you book you’ll get a booking confirmation email. This will have further details about how to prep for your day, where we’re located, etc. Newborn sessions will receive a prep guide as well.
Consultation Call
We will then set up a consultation call to discuss your dream newborn session. We will decide on colors, themes, dresses for mom, clothing for family and more.
What is Included in your Newborn Session?
All newborn sessions include hair and makeup, plus all clothing. This includes gowns and dresses for mom as well as clothing for dad. We even have cute little outfits for your kids. All props, swaddles and newborn outfits are provided. You won’t have to bring a thing!
Session Day
When the day comes for your newborn session I will have everything set up in the studio. Clothing for the family will be set out.
When you arrive at the studio our hair and make up artist will get mom prepped. While this is happening I will start shooting solo newborn portraits.
Solo newborn portraits take about one hour. After that we will photograph family and sibling pictures. I suggest you have dad come separately with the other kids. Have him arrive at the end of the session. That way the other kids don’t have to sit through everything.
If this is your first child, come as a whole family. Dad will get dressed in the provided clothing during hair and makeup.
The backdrops are changed out throughout the session with different setups / props for baby.
