From newborn portraits to first birthday cake smash pictures
Atlanta Cake Smash Photographer | Collins Turns One. Sweet Collins first came to our Marietta portrait studio when she was first born to get newborn portraits. It has been such a pleasure watching her grow up. I couldn’t wait to do her cake smash session! This little bit is so sweet and loves people. She kept wanting me to hold her during her session, for instance. What a little sweetie!
The Baby Plan | 3, 6, 9 months and one year
One year milestone cake smash portraits are the last session done in The Baby Plan. The Baby Plan documents 3, 6, 9 and 12 months with a portrait session. The 12 months, or, one year cake smash portrait session is one of my favorites because it is so sweet watching baby eat their cake. After all, sometimes this is baby’s first experience with sweets and as a result, they have the cutest reactions!
For a cake smash session we typically shoot 3 – 4 different setups. Before your session date there will be a consultation call to discuss themes, styles and colors and special requests. As a result, creating the perfectly tailored portrait session for your baby’s special milestone.
Cake smash portrait session themes | Hot air balloon birthday
Collins’ mom is doing a hot air balloon theme for her birthday party. So first, she sent me a few inspiration images with hot air balloons and this is what we came up with. The paper hot air balloons were all handmade at the studio, specifically for Collins. I can’t wait for these to be displayed at her birthday party. How cute!
The pink smock dress is super special because Collins’ aunt did the embroidery on it. I will have everything you need for your session, however, if a special piece comes to mind please let me know. I love incorporating your special pieces into each portrait session. Those little touches are so important and meaningful.
Simple, neutral themes | Atlanta cake smash photographer
For our second setup at Collins’ cake smash portrait session we stuck to simple, neutral colors. My studio is stocked with beautiful neutral backdrops to choose from. For instance, off white, cream, light gray, dark gray, tans, and more. Lastly, we completed the look with a basket and flowers. Mom said Collins loves sitting in baskets, therefore this sweet girl was in heaven!
Clothing is provided at your portrait session
For this particular set I pulled one of my studio wardrobe outfits for Collins to wear. The little romper was perfect for her!
All outfits for baby and family are provided when you do a portrait session with Casey McMinn Photography. I have a wide variety of dresses for mom, plus, button downs and other classic options for dad. Complete with dresses and rompers for little girls and adorable two piece outfits for little boys.
The Cake Smash! | Atlanta cake smash photographer
The final and most anticipated setup we did was the cake smash. Fun! A cake smash portrait session ends with a themed set and (you guessed it) baby smashing a cake. Sweet Collins absolutely loved this and really got into it!
Collins’ mom had seen a few inspiration images with light neutral tones, flowers and a simple cake. If you know my style at the studio this is it!
I chose an off white, cream backdrop and went from there. The flower rings used on the backdrop were all handmade at our studio. I had a very simple white cake made and added fresh roses and carnations to it. We also added some champagne colored balloons to the set. As a result, we added some beautiful depth to the set. I absolutely love how everything turned out.
Happy first birthday to you, sweet Collins! I absolutely love watching you grow. I hope your birthday party is the best!
